Improve Your Game

Throughout the season we will be updating this page with classes and clinics designed to help you learn and improve your game. If you don’t see what you are looking for, our PGA of Canada Instructors will be able to customize a session for you and your friends.

Much of our time spent with students is improving technique at the covered, driving range, but we’re also able to help on the golf course, in playing lessons. These lessons are mainly completed in the evening, when the course quietens.

If you like to learn with a partner, friend or friends then consider our Semi-Private and Group Lessons. They are more laid-back, learning at a gentler pace.

Tom Day

PGA of Canada Professional

Born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, and moving to Alberta at age 3. Tom has spent most of his life living in Alberta, splitting his time between Edmonton, Kananaskis, Canmore and Calgary. Tom was introduced to the game by his father at an early age, and enjoyed playing the game recreationally during his junior golf days. After graduating from the University of Alberta General Arts Program, Tom worked in various industries before deciding to turn his passion for golf into a career. Tom went back to school at what was at the time called Grant MacEwan Community College to take their Golf Management program. His first experience in the industry was at The Kananaskis Country Golf Course where he worked his way up from Outside Services to Associate Professional. Not only did he enjoy working in the industry, he also enjoyed the mountain lifestyle that came with that location. After many years at Kananaskis, Tom was offered a job as the Head Golf Professional at the Wintergreen Golf and Country Club in the hamlet of Bragg Creek Alberta, located about a half hour west of Calgary. Tom then spent the next 13 seasons in this role, running the golf operations, as well as serving as the Tournament Coordinator for members, and corporate events. Tom developed a love for Vancouver Island, and especially the Campbell River area after many winter road trips to the Island to escape the cold winter of Alberta, and play some golf. When he saw that Storey Creek was advertising for a Professional position, Tom saw this as a chance to see just what Island life was all about. He is thrilled to have been chosen for the position, and is looking forward to the next chapter in Campbell River and Storey Creek.Teaching golf has never been a large focus of the roles that Tom has had, however his time spent in the industry has allowed him to teach many golfers at many different levels. Tom has a belief that strong understanding of the fundamentals are the foundation to a better game.He believes that every student is different in the ways that they learn, physical limitations and what they want to get out of the game. As a result, Tom enters every lesson he teaches with an open mind on how to cater to each person’s needs and goals.
